Good Evening All,
Welcome to Episode 7 of Season 10. Spoilers for this episode provided
that it was Harm-lite and Mac Vs Sturgis in court. Doesn't sound overly
thrilling but if we get a good Mac-Harm scene we can live with the tedium.
Open with a storm over Chesapeake Bay and yellow slicker clad seaman and
women dealing with the weather and an overboard crewman. Supposedly one of these
crewman is Mikey Roberts and this is a boat from the Academy, which will be
born out after the ads I'm assuming.
JAG HQ with General Cresswell {GC} assigning Mac the case at the Academy and
handing Bud another case. "fraternization" he says. Members in the same
command he tells her and Mac looks startled.
Bud later asks Mac what the problem is with her and GC and Mac tells him a
little of the Farrow story, telling Bud that she feels she's being watched and
that GC purposely handed Bud the fraternization case in her presence as a
reminder of that. Bud is skeptical.
Not sure if Mac was also thinking of herself and Harm, but speaking from my
own experience working with military, I'm standing by my feeling that
involvement with her and Harm would not be an issue, given that they report directly to
CG and not to each other. He might request it be kept strictly out of the
office but against regulations, I don't believe so.
Mattie and her dad come to Harm's apartment. Harm talks of getting ready to
do some flight quals, and Mattie's dad tells him he's petitioning for full
custody to be returned to him.
Now we have Mac at the Academy talking to all concerned, then back at JAG
talking to Bud about Mikey. I'm not going to detail any of this investigation,
though typing might keep me awake during the back and forth questioning.
I will say that Mikey on duty is more likable that whiny Mikey of the past
however.
Mattie and Jen talk about Harm's reaction and Jen assures her Harm wants her
happiness.
CG visits Mac in her office to talk about the case and the missing girl. He
questions Mac's prosecution approach. He brings up Okinawa and Mac's heart
stops, but he's not mentioning her or Farrow. Rather he was citing an example.
The Coast Guard finds the body of the overboard girl.
At this point if Mac and Harm have contact I'm going to be hugely surprised.
Sturgis and Mac attend the funeral for Emma. Mac is visibly moved during the
dad's eulogy.
Mattie arrives to talk to Mac. It's about Harm she says--that he signed an
agreement to allow her dad to petition; and it's been approved and she'll be
moving home soon. She wants Mac to help her understand Harm's feelings even
though they don't know each other very well. Mac tells her that Harm is at the
point in his life where he doesn't need to possess someone to love them; and
that she believes Harm has learned to love unconditionally largely because of
her. Mattie understands and asks Mac to take care of him for her. I would say
this is the cutest scene we're going to get. Mac promises her she will, and
then tells her she wants to change that they don't know each other very well.
Nice scene, and it would seem that it's opening another avenue for Mac and
Harm to connect---through Mattie this time.
Harm arrives home to witness Mattie moving out her stuff. Mattie says let's
not say good-bye. "No Need" Harm tells her and they make plans for Saturday.
He's written her a note that she's to read later but she opens it in the
elevator. Fair winds and following seas--love always Harm, and there's a pair of
his gold wings attached. Very sweet. I would pray that someday he expresses
similar sentiments to Mac.
GC and Mac share a breakfast table at JAG. He's eating more fiber he tells
her, then asks if she thinks he spends his time judging her. She brings up
Okinawa and he acknowledges that he reprimanded Farrow for his relationship with
a junior officer then. But he tells her it does not color his opinion of her
now. Consider that a vote of confidence. Mac is much relieved.
Case concludes with no court-martial going forth and that's it.
REACTION: Not a single Mac-Harm moment, but some seeds for the future. And
I did love that Mac felt totally confident to explain the workings of Harm's
mind to Mattie.
PREVIEWS: Harm and Mac at Guantanamo Bay investigating prisoner abuse.
Another ripped from the headlines thing. But at least they're together and away
from JAG. I'm expecting to have much more to write then.
