10.19 -Two Towns

Three best friends from Oklahoma are Reservists in the Marine. All three are posted in Iraq. After an Iraqi man exits a work tent, two of the three friends enter the tent in order to get some fast food rations a Lieutenant is supposed to have. As they enter, the tent blows up. Harm and Roberts go to the hometown of the deceased soldiers to do some damage control and help the townspeoeple with some paper work. Some sort of trial will be held in the town and Harm seems to be defending someone. Mac is sent to Iraq to investigate the explosion. Cresswell also appears.

Good evening everyone. Welcome to episode 19 of the 10th and final
season of JAG. Yes in case anyone has not yet heard, JAG is not
being invited back--in any format--for the 11th season. Between the
low ratings and DJE's leaving, these next ones will be the final 4
episodes.

The spoilers I've seen for tonight and the next two don't provide for
Mac and Harm working together. Tonight it's Harm-Bud, with Mac off
on her own. Next week it's Vic-Lt. Graves gone on a case, though I
don't know what Mac and Harm are doing, so hopefully they are
together back in DC. Then we have Vic and Harm off together and that
could be really fun--yes I am a Vic fan and not ashamed to be in a
very tiny minority. But that's NOT to say I want any part of a Vic-
Mac thing.

Lastly, early spoilers--more like hints--for the series finale I've
seen things like "Harm and Mac are forced to confront their feelings"
and a cryptic word from DB saying he would provide resolution and at
least something by which we can presume they could be together. It's
not the wedding I've always dreamed of but it is something.

By the way I'm doing this while being the sole supervision of a 2
year old so I may be less than coherent at times. As always in the
unlikely [at this point] event that we get a truly special scene that
needs transcribing, I will do that tomorrow.

So let's get to it.

We open with: A Marine camp in Iraq with Marines screwing around off
duty. A sudden explosion in the center of the camp. Sabotage.
Several injuries.

Back at JAG with the news showing Kresgee Oklahoma and in mourning
with deaths of the reservists who died, all from that town. Bud,
Mac, Harm watching. Cresswell sends Bud and Harm to assist with the
paperwork involved in casualty benefits for the families. Mac
ordered to Iraq to question the suspect involved.

And of course we get no scene with Mac and Harm saying hello,
goodbye, kiss my...well you get the idea.

So we have Bud and Harm conducting interviews with the survivors,
including the mom of the only survivor in the group. She's having
guilt that her son was the only one chosen by God to live through the
attack.

Mac in Iraq conducting her interviews and investigation of the
suspect while the survivor returns to the town in Oklahoma.

That night the Marine Corps Reserve center burns down. Arson the
sheriff claims--and points the finger at the young Marine, Van
Arsdale, taking him into custody.

Harm and Bud are assigned to do a JAG investigation since it was a
federal facility, and interview the Lance Corporal who denies
involvement in the arson, and talks about feeling guilty over the
incident in Iraq.

Harm deals with the mom of his subject as Mac does the same with
hers. Both mothers claim innocence for them.

Van Arsdale will be returned to DC for an Art. 32 hearing on the
charges. Which would be wonderful if Mac was back there but she's in
a dark prison tent in Iraq talking to her suspect. He did not have
explosives in his backpack he claims, and just happened to be in the
tent to speak to men he knew. Mac is beginning to believe him.

The townspeople stand off Bud and Harm, saying if the Marine is going
to be tried, it's going to be there, not in DC.

Harm and Bud will prosecuting and the mom wants Mayor Hazlett to be
his civilian lawyer.

Mac checks the room where it would appear the device was built, and
the trial continues back in the states with the defense bringing in
another possible suspect.

Mac suggests that they may have the wrong man because he did not
martyr himself in the attack as most terrorists have, and Harm and
Bud confront the possible suspect with little result; then talk to
the man's son who has a cat which Van Arsdale gave to him from the
reserve center, thinking that he saved the cat and then lit the
fire. Van Arsdale confesses when confronted with the notion of them
discovering cat hair on his uniform. He accepts his fate explaining
that he did the act because he regrets what happened, that he didn't
bring those guys back with him. The relatives in the courtroom tell
him it's OK and that he's welcome home when his time is done.

Mac's suspect is cleared and she arranges for him and his mom to
speak at a local school with the media and the base commander
present. Meanwhile the Oklahoma town votes on a war memorial to the
dead.

And we're done.

REACTION: Just a typical JAG story exploiting the war and current
headlines. No indication Harm and Mac are more than casual co-
workers. Very sad.

PREVIEWS: We have a doctor accused of giving comfort to the enemy
and Gladys Knight guests because JAG needs a soul music performance I
guess.

Je viens de lire le résumé de Pat et j'y comprends rien. Ca doit être la neige.
Pas de Mattie? C'est çà?
C'est pas un épisode maintes fois repoussé çà! Où j'ai rêvée, en tout cas pas de Vic, chic, bon allez je vais le regarder.

Non, didine, Mattie n'apparait pas dans l'épisode et il n'y a aucune allusion à cette storyline. Mais moi je ne trouve pas ça trop dérangeant, ça ne rend pas l'épisode insensé.
Eh je dois dire que j'ai pas mal aimé l'épisode, on retrouve la facture classique, un peu de patriotisme et d'idéalisme, mais le parallèle entre USa et Irak est assez bien fait, l'histoire assez touchante (en gros c'est l'hisoire d'un peiti village en Oklahoma ou le seul lmarine resacpé d'un attentat en Irak est tellement en colère qu'il met le feu à un batiment, tout le village le croit innocent alors qu'il finit par avouer, et en Irak un civil irakien collabarteur avec les USA est accusé à tort d'avoir provoqué cet attenta, alors qu'il est en réalité innocent).
Il y a des allusions à l'innocence, la culpabilité, les préjugés.
et surtout quel plaisir de voir Bud! il est super! il assiste bien Harm en Oklahoma. Mac est en Irak (pas de Vic, tant mieux!), elle est très bien aussi.

bref, pas mal du tout.    je mettrai  3.5 à 4/5

Eh bien je suis pas la seule à ne pas avoir regardé, les chiffres sont éloquents.
Et dire que CB' devait rajeunir l'audience, il l'a fait fuir, ouais.

NBC stayed in front at 9 with "Third Watch," 6.1/11. "JAG," 5.9/10, was a close second for CBS. "Hope & Faith," 4.2/7, and "Less Than Perfect," 3.6/6, kept ABC in third. The WB moved up one spot to fourth, averaging 3.0/5 with "Reba" and a second episode of "Living with Fran." UPN's rerun of "America's Next Top Model" narrowly beat FOX's "24" encore for fifth.

Et oui, 10 millions ouaps, va pas fort!
J'ai des doutes pour un dernier épisode qui attire plusieurs millions comme l'ont fait Friends.

Comme c'est triste de s'ennuyer en regardant JAG ..... J'ai regardé jusqu'au bout, mais pas moyen d'accrocherà aucune des deux histoires, honnetement j'avais préféré JAG San diego... La je commence à etre inquiète pour ma santé morale, ca fait deux fois que je dis ca, je vais peut etre me mettre à regarder The OC, moi    

Aucun autre commentaire, mais je connais des cassettes - de la saison 4 - qui vont sortir de leur étagère d'ici peu

En cherchant dans mes archives, c'est un épisode qui a devait être diffusé en Février donc, cela explique le fait qu'il n'y aucune nouvelle de Mattie.
Ce n'est pas sensé s'être passé encore.

Pour la méprise épisode de DJE ou pas. Apparemment l'épisode de DJE ne sera pas diffusé, je l'ai relu et apparement cet épisode a été tourné à la place de Old soldiers never die. Ca explique pourquoi on a l'impression que Harm fait la tête. Et je suis polie!

parceque franchement , j'imagine mal , DPB dépenser de l'argent pour tourner un épisode et ne pas le diffuser ou s'en servir sous prétexe que DJE en soit le metteur en scène ou alors c'est un accord entre eux ....?

C'est un épisode qu'il avait écrit. Mais je ne sais pas s'il devait le filmer ou pas.

J'ai connu une époque où je piaffais d'impatience avant d'avoir le dernier JAG diffusé.... les  temps ont bien changé
Deux histoires, dont l'une aurait pu être intéressante, celle de la visite de Harm et de Bud   aux habitants d'une ville traumatisée par la mort de deux enfants du pays et le retour d'un 3ème; , mais ça ne "prend "pas: manque de conviction, crédits en baisse, scénario bâclé? les acteurs semblent ne pas être là! Même DJE n'arrive pas à y croire... C'est ennuyeux et ça manque de punch
Cela me désole de voir comment on saborde la série...

c'est un épisode que je regarderai volontiers plus tard dans la semaine, toute seule et bien tranquille, car ça papotait à côté de moi donc je n'ai pas été assez attentive, surtout à la partie de Mac, rho la vilaine, pas Mac, bibi 
Malgré tout j'ai trouvé le sujet intéressant, enfin les sujets mais en fait ils ne forment qu'un seul. Deux villes, deux continents, deux religions, ou comment réaprendre à  vivre en ayant subit la guerre, deux histoires fortes, deux soldats, deux mères.
Deux beaux messages d'espoir 
Des héros sobres, nos héros à nous qui savent trouver le ton juste, ça change des autres épisodes de guerre 


ps : ça me revient :
il y a une remarque du soldat qui vaut le coup d'être notée relative à la nation qui envoie ses enfants se faire tuer pour un conflit qui s'enlise.
